Botox is a prescription medicine injected into the patient's muscles to temporarily improve the appearance of crow's feet, frown lines, etc. Botox works by preventing signals from the nerve cells reaching muscles, leaving the muscles without instructions to contract. Basically, this injection enables the patient's muscles to relax which smooths out facial wrinkles.
Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler used to correct wrinkles typically around the nose and mouth. Juvederm products are a smooth consistency gel. Once injected, the hyaluronic acid holds water at the injection site which acts as a cushioning agent. This adds volume to the face and results in a smoother appearance. Results typically last 9 months to a year.
Kybella is an injectable that destroys fat cells to reduce fullness under the chin, otherwise known as a double chin. It's a manmade version of a substance the body naturally produces to absorb fat. Deoxycholic acid breaks down fat cells at the injection site which decreases the appearance of excess fat hanging underneath the chin.
Dysport is a prescription injection that blocks nerve activity within a patient's muscles to relax the area. Dysport helps improve wrinkles between the eyebrows. Fun fact: Dysport can also be used to aid cervical dystonia or spasms in the neck muscles due to its nature.
Radiesse is a dermal filler used to smooth moderate to severe wrinkles. It can also correct volume loss in the back of the hands. This FDA-approved injectable restores volume by stimulating production of natural collagen. Results often last a year or more.
Restylane is a dermal filler gel made of hyaluronic acid designed to add volume or fullness to correct wrinkles. Once injected, Restylane attracts and binds water molecules to enhance facial volume. Results can be seen immediately and usually last upward of 6 months, depending on the site.
Sculptra is an injectable treatment made from polylactic acid that requires an average of three treatments to gradually correct wrinkles. It works by providing a gradual increase in skin thickness as collagen develops. Results can last up to 2 years.
